Call for Trainers “Embracing Diversity”- Training course on diversity management
Description
Dates:18 (arrival by 17h at the airport) – 23 (departure after breakfast) of November, 2019, 4 wd Theme: Inclusion and diversity are, as written in the E+: Youth in Action ID Strategy, two sides of the same coin. One thing is to reach out to different target groups to take part in the E+ programme, but once they are in we also need to equip them to deal positively with diversity of all kinds (different abilities, identities, social background, educational level, provenance...). All youth workers have to deal with the fact that the young people they work with are different from each other in many ways, this means that they have to manage diversity. Some differences are more obvious than others, such as ethnicity, religion or language. Diversity is more than the obvious differences, however it also includes differences such as: educational level, social and economic situation, sexuality, health and hidden or visible disabilities. Many youth workers put great emphasis on including a diversity of people, and this training will help participants to manage this diversity in their work. This would be the 3rd edition of the TC. The 1st one took place in Norway, in April 2017 and the 2nd in Germany, in May 2018. This edition will have a special focus on working with Roma young people and on diversity concept issues they, as well as youth workers working with them are faced with daily. During the training course, we will look at different concepts of inclusion and diversity. We will offer concrete tools, techniques and methods youth workers can use to manage diversity. We will facilitate discussions between the participants in order to learn from each other and find common ground in our experiences with working with diverse groups. Participants at the course will also learn how to pass on what they have learned at the training to the young people they work with. General aim: To train 25 professionals, working with young people in how to manage diversity in their daily work and in youth activities. The participants will also be trained in how to help young people appreciate diversity and cooperate despite differences. Objectives:
Profile of participants at the course: Professionals working directly with young people on a regular basis, facing cultural diversity in their daily life. This includes youth workers, youth leaders, teachers, coaches, social workers…
