Description

Iuventa – Slovak Youth Institute opens the call for three facilitators at the conference „Discover Youth Talents“, which is going to be held from the 10th to the 12th of April 2019 in Bratislava. 

Context:

The Slovak Presidency of the Visegrad Group began on 1st July 2018 and will run until 30th June 2019. The motto of presidency is "Dynamic Visegrad for Europe",

Visegrad Group (V4 - Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovak Republic) and Eastern Partnership countries (EaP - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine) and Partner Countries in the Western Balkan region include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia have a productive and steadily developing relationship with substantial dialogue across a wide range of youth issues, working seminars and annual V4 presidential meetings supported by the active participation of representatives of Partnership between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of youth, and SALTO Eastern Europe and Caucasus Resource Centre.

In connection with the Presidency of Slovakia in V4 and the preparation of a conference aimed at supporting the talent of young people with fewer opportunities.

The main aim of the conference is to discuss the positive influence and enable full development of the potential, the systematic support of gifted youth and the issue of their identification in informal and non-formal education, sharing examples of good practice and highlighting the role of talent support and development in various fields. Focus on current challenges such as increasing the capacity of youth workers to use innovative approaches, discovering potential, highlighting cooperation between sectors or working with young people at risk of marginalization.

 

The conference aims to:

  • create a platform for expert discussion to support the full development of potential and talent with emphasis on non-formal and informal learning
  • exchange of experience and examples of good practice in youth work and its role in developing potential and talent between V4 countries, the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkans.
  • offer and overview of current issues in youth policy and education policy.
  • bring together the experts, researchers, representatives of National Youth Councils and policy makers to advance a dialogue between these stakeholders.

More specific objectives can be defined during the preparation meeting 22.1.2019 in Iuventa, (Bratislava)

Format of the conference:

  • one full day, one half day;
  • plenary sessions: opening, evaluations/bringing together various stakeholders, final evaluation/conclusions;
  • group sessions: workshops, case studies, research studies, round tables, personal stories;
  • use of social media and online tools

Target group: 50 participants

  • representatives of the Ministries of Education of the Youth department,
  • representatives of National Youth Councils,
  • representatives of NA E+, SALTO, EU- CoE Partnership,
  • representatives of public institutions from relevant sectors.
  • are committed to attend for the full duration of the course;
  • are able to understand English language;

 

Requested trainer profile

Facilitators profile:

We are searching for one facilitator with experience from youth work in Slovakia and two facilitators from international community who will work in the team.

Desirable competences and experiences:

  • strong experience in facilitating interactive public events of comparable size and target group;
  • experience with online tools and dynamic and interactive facilitation techniques;
  • strong communication and presentation skills;
  • knowledge of the youth work field in European context particularly V4 context (key stakeholders, youth policy and strategic documents in V4 countries, role of NAs, etc.);
  • awareness of  the principles of non-formal learning, youth work especially work with talented youth and global education;
  • awareness of the key policy documents in the youth sector and V4 context with EaP and Western Balkan countries, Slovak presidency topic- Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministries of Countries of Visegrad Group Responsible for Youth and the Ministries of Countries of Eastern Partnership to European Union Responsible for Youth in Youth Field was signed in Bratislava in (June 22, 2015) Act on Support of Youth Work no. 208/2008, Youth Report 2018 or “Two million of the future”, EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 etc.
  • excellent level of English – (excellent level of spoken and written English language).

 

Working conditions

Facilitators will be expected to:

  • develop the concept of the conference together with the Planning/Organisation team;
  • participate at preparatory meeting in Bratislava 22nd January 2019);
  • contribute to/prepare the conference materials (programme, concept note, infopack, and booklet);
    • co-facilitate the plenary sessions at conference;
    • brief the facilitators of smaller sessions before and during the conference;
    • evaluation of the conference;
    • finalization of the conference conclusions.

Tasks / duties of facilitators

The tasks of the facilitators include the following:

  • Attend the preparatory meeting
  • Programme design & implementation: Come up with an attractive title, specific objectives, develop concept and programme, select active methodology, ideas for necessary input (programme, best practices, theory,…);
  • Evaluation of the conference
  • Preparation of the final report

Estimated maximum contract value with VAT/ Trainer’s fee

270, - € per day; 5,5 days; total fee: 1.485,- €.

5,5 working days:

  •  4 full days for preparation and evaluation (including individual and team preparation, prep-meeting, on-going and final evaluation directly after the training + final report; prep-meeting dates and final report are not extra paid)
  • 1,5 full days for the activity
  • board, lodging and travel costs are covered by organisers

Team composition

Team involved who will be responsible for the organisation of conference are representatives of Slovak NA E+, representatives of the Ministries of Education of the Youth department.

How to apply:

Trainers can apply in a training pairs, but have to apply individually and name the partner in the application form.
